Byredo Parfums Gypsy Water

BYREDO Parfums, how I love thee! The modern blends, the rich packaging and the razor-sharp focus on craft and quality – what’s not to love? I discovered the Stockholm based fragrance house about two years after its inception. Founded by Ben Gorham in 2006, the name BYREDO is short for “by redolence.” Gorham believes in “a modern approach without loosing olfactory techniques – of simply bringing together the best of old and new.” Although his line is based in Stockholm, Ben draws inspiration from his travels as well as his ethnic background (his mother is Indian). The eau de perfumes and fragrances can be found at the BYREDO Stockholm store as well as select stockists such as Barney’s and Liberty.*

Gypsy Water (the fragrance pictured above) was released in 2008 and it captures a Romany vagabond story in perfume. The top notes are Bergamot, Lemon, Pepper and Juniper Berries. The middle notes are Incense, Pine Needles, and Orris. The base notes are a simple, yet warm composition of Amber, Vanilla and Sandalwood. Other popular eau de perfumes from the line include Pulp (2008), Bal D’Afrique (2009), La Tulipe (2010) and Mister Marvelous (2011).

What kind of fragrances do you love?

*Gorham has even released a line of luxurious leather cases to house BYREDO’s 12 ml Eau de Parfum travel vials. Each case is handmade and fitted with BYREDO’s signature magnetic enclosure.
