Since becoming the artistic director for the storied house of Repossi in 2009, Gaia Repossi has infused her family’s jewelry company with an opulent edge. While many of the baubles are still crafted using traditional techniques in the same workshops her great-grandfather used nearly 90 years ago, the style has evolved. Gaia brings a sophisticated elegance and a contemporary approach to jewelry making. Her inspirations range from ethnic silhouettes and tribal adornments to Greek mythology and Moorish architecture. Celebrity and fashion fans include Diane Kruger, Kate Bosworth, Cara Delevingne, and Chloé Sévigny.
The photos above are from the Repossi Fall 2014 ad campaign shot by David Sims featuring models Maartje Verhoef and Iselin Steiro. I am absolutely smitten with the layered geometric shapes of the Antifer and the loose “scribble” motifs found in the White Noise collections. Check out the White Noise 18-karat gold diamond ring from Net-a-Porter. This breathtaking beauty is inspired in part by American sculptor Alexander Calder. I even like the understated version without the sparkle, (the 18-karat gold ring) as you can still appreciate the graceful free-form lines. One of Gaia’s design signatures is the ability to create statement making jewelry that still gives off a look of refinement and modern femininity. I look forward to owning a piece from Repossi someday… A girl can dream!
