For me, European lingerie is like a virus, once you start, there’s absolutely no way that you can wear anything else. I am an avid collector (see my first post on the subject here). I crave gorgeous, wearable pieces with thoughtful details.
In my late teens / early twenties, I was after the perfect sexy black lace chemise. I wanted something unique, with cutaway shoulders – no flimsy spaghetti straps. This hunt went on for a couple of years and ended upon discovering my dream piece at a tiny boutique across from the Arno river in Florence, Italy. The brand? The incomparable, the magnificent La Perla… I am still wearing my cherished piece today, nearly 14 years later.
La Perla has been a mainstay in my lingerie wardrobe as they routinely turn out the most sexy, sophisticated bras and underwear… And this season really blew me away! The images above are from the stunning La Perla AW 2014 ad campaign. The sheer black lace bra (photo #2) is from the standout Tea Rose collection. I would love to own every single piece!
I am pleased to announce that the luxury super brand is set to open a flagship boutique next month on Geary street in San Francisco. Italian architect Roberto Baciocchi designed the space to highlight the elegant underpinnings on gilded hangers and in clear cases. The seductive atmosphere even includes fitting rooms with “service” bells to ring the sales staff. The opening coincides with the brand’s 60th anniversary this year. I can’t wait for my first visit!
