Paris-native Joseph Altuzarra’s signature label is known for its unique brand of grown-up sex appeal. The talented designer drew inspiration from “Eighteenth-century dandies and Truman Capote’s ‘swans’ – and their mutual love of dressing.” Altuzarra’s show was a lesson in reveal and conceal – he played with a clever mix of materials; lace, leather and fur.

His AW 2015 runway was awash with sexy, sophisticated pieces like figure-skimming skirts slashed thigh-high, prim blouses and tailored jackets. Altuzarra dialed up the impact with what might be the best accessories from New York Fashion Week: studded knee-high and thigh-grazing boots. These came with a frill of white eyelet peeking out of the top. For the finale, he sent out a series of velvet dévoré dresses in opulent jewel tones with gold sequins, their plunging necklines trimmed in delicate lace. Despite the incredible details, these seductive designs had an appealing ease about them.

Feminine sophistication is second nature to Joseph Altuzarra, as his latest collection aptly demonstrates. This designer has clearly hit star status as Emma Stone wore one of his velvet dévoré numbers (the garnet hued dress in photos 11 & 12) to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party this past weekend. It doesn’t get better than that!
